Similar to what we are doing in class, Photosounder is a program that creates images from sound. These images, however, are not designed by individuals, but rather by an “omnipotent synthesis algorithm”. After the initial image is created, the designer comes in. Photosounder allows you to edit the creation in ways similar to how you would edit an image on Photoshop. There are “layer groups with various layer blending models”, “exclusive layer convolution modes”, and “extensive graphical/mathematical operations specially adapted to spectrogram editing which allow you to apply all kinds of effects” that help you alter your image until you are satisfied. You also have the ability to add more sounds to your design to layer multiple works of art on top of each other.
