The other week in lecture, we were learning about graph theory, and there was a really cool graph image on one of the slides. I looked into where it came from, and found this academic paper: http://www.maths.tcd.ie/~mnl/store/AdamicGlance2004a.pdf. Adamic and Glance, who conducted the study, tracked the articles of many political blogs and tracked how many times they referenced another news source or figure of the opposite political party, and they used this data to create a graph where the edges represent the interaction between sources, using color to denote whether it was inter or intra-party. This paper reminded me a lot of our next project, where we will be collecting, analyzing, and then creating a visualization of some data.
