With all the pressure we all face to live up to the prestige of attending this university, it is easy to get lost in your own emotions and stress. It is important that we all take to time to check up on our classmates and friends, but we have to be sure to do so in a way that is actually beneficially to the person we’re checking up on. Many people don’t realize how big of a difference there is between empathy and sympathy. While they may seem similar, they are really from two entirely different worlds. Brené Brown explains this pretty well in her TED Talk, which was animated in the video clip below. The animation does a great job of utilizing many of the techniques we’ve talked about in class so far, like using negative space to make an image more meaningful and interesting. I really enjoyed this video, and learned a lot from it as well. I hope others can do the same.
