Post-Election Therapy in Space

I know for many it was a little hard to get out of bed today. Even if you went to bed at 12 am and didn’t wait for the official result to come out, you knew what happened. Going through the news today was painful to say the least.

Using art as therapy has been a practice for a long time, but this takes it to another level. Brandon Grant, a former brand strategist, has been going on Google Earth everyday to discover new, beautiful sights of the world from space.

His latest project shows swing states like Florida and North Carolina from a bird’s eye view. But rather than showing the intense red and blues that we saw all over CNN last night, this abstraction uses light, placid colours.

It makes me feel calm and takes away a little bit of this stress and anger. By stepping back, and feeling like we’re distanced from this reality, we feel like we can release all of this frustration, resentment, grievance, sadness into space.

“In space, no one can hear you scream.”

Take care.
