I recently came across the works of artist Alicja Kwade, who is based in Berlin, Germany. In her works, Kwade experiments with and manipulates our perceptions of how objects usually occupy time and space. In several of her works for example, everyday objects are bent, rotated, mirrored, or distorted in a surrealistic way. For example, in her piece titled Aggregatzustand (Aggregate Condition), various ordinary objects, such as a mop stick and a mirror, are bent against a wall in a way that they appear to be melting.
