The Kids in the Shoe

One of my favorite childhood animation series was Max Fleischer’s Color Classics, which ran from 1934 to 1941 and produced thirty-six shorts. One of my favorites was The Kids in the Shoe (1935), based on the popular nursery rhyme “There was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe”. This animated short follows a day in the life of a woman and her ten mischievous kids who live in a shoe-shaped house. After the woman puts the kids to bed and then goes to sleep, the children wake up and throw a loud and chaotic pillow fight party.
